O2 Academy Leeds
For those Leeds bound stags and hens with a hankering for live music then the O2 Academy in Leeds is the premier live music venue in the city centre walkable from most hotels and close to the city’s nightlife.
Situated on Cookridge Street the O2 Academy is actually a gothic grade 1 listed building that has in previous incarnations been The Town and Country Club where such legends as the Stone Roses and Blur amongst others played and a nightclub before a deal was struck to make it the new Leeds Academy in 2007.
The Kaiser Chiefs opened the venue as the Leeds Academy with a gig in October 2008 before its name changed to the O2 Academy Leeds in November 2008 following the signature of a sponsorship agreement.
In its current form as O2 Academy Leeds teh venue has seen such stars grace it as The Fratellis, All Time Low, The Pogues, Ellie Goulding and Wolfmother to name but a few.
