Leeds Arena Project
The city of Leeds has long been without a live music and events arena for stags and hens until the recent announcement and subsequent start of construction of the Leeds Arena due to open in 2013.
The arena will be situated on Claypit Lane in the Northern Quarter area of Leeds and will have a 13,500 seating capacity although its flexible design will allow for an increased capacity for standing events.
The arena will be constructed in a super theatre fan shaped format which promises perfect sightlines from each seat and a longest distance from seat to stage of 68 metres instead of the current convention of nearer 95 metres.
The arena will be able to accommodate many different types of events including:-
World class music events in various configurations
- Comedy Events
- Ice Dance Shows
- Boxing, Wrestling, UFC
- Shows ranging from 1,500 – 13,500 capacity
The external part of the stadium has a honeycomb design. This design uses – a voronoi diagram – to create cellular shapes that are visible on key approaches to the arena.
On an evening, the front of the building will have the ability to change colour or pattern dependant on the show or mood of the arena at the time.
Stag and Hen Leeds are keeping track of developments and will be the first to let all you Stags and Hens that are planning to come to Leeds know when it opens and what events are scheduled to happen at the arena.
