Stag Do Ideas for Non-drinkers

When it comes to Stag Do’s not all grooms want to have a weekend of drinking.
Some grooms may not drink alcohol at all or they may want to avoid the drunken fall outs that can often happen. If you and the lads want a more laid back weekend with no surprise hangovers, then look no further. Here are some activities that don’t involve alcohol and are great fun.
For the Action & Adventure Types
If the groom loves the outdoors there are many activities that will suit his needs. How about the classics such as paintballing and quad biking for an adrenaline rush. For something more unusual there is clay pigeon shooting where you can test out your shooting skills. Or go onto the waters and learn how to sail a boat! These activities are a good choice if you want an action packed day. Then have a relaxed evening meal after all your energy has been used!
This is a really popular activity for stag groups. It involves being locked in a room together and completing a series of challenges and puzzles to break out. Be aware you only have a set amount of time to break out so the race is on from the beginning! There are two escape games in Leeds city centre. One is ‘Tick Tock Unlock’ which has three themed rooms to choose from which are: Blueprint, Hatch and Alice in Wonderland. The other game is ‘Locked In’ which has two themed rooms: Classroom of Doom and Nursery of Nightmares. This is a real test of your problem solving and team work skills and is an exciting challenge for the group. Give it a go…can you escape?
Live in the world of James Bond for the day by going on an Espionage mission. This four-hour activity splits you up into groups, and takes you all around the city completing various challenges such as code-breaking, logic-puzzles and forgery tasks. What’s more is that your mission is tracked online so you can check your progress and that of your enemies! This is a brilliant activity if many guests have only just met as it gives them a chance to get to know each other whilst completing the challenges.
For an action packed day why not head off to Xscape Yorkshire. It is 23 minutes by car or 27 minutes by train from the centre of Leeds. Xscape is a huge centre which houses a vast amount of exhilarating activities including: snow slope, trampoline park, climbing wall, laser zone, bowling and adventure golf. With so many activities plus lots of places to eat and a cinema you could spend the whole day here. From snowboarding on the slopes to glow in the dark adventure golf, the groom will not be disappointed with a day out at Xscape!
Go to a Gig
Leeds is home to the First Direct Arena and O2 Academy which have regular music gigs and comedy shows. See if any of the groom’s favourite bands are playing and get tickets as a surprise. This will be unexpected and an experience to remember on his last night of freedom! Not that into music? Try a comedy show or WWE Wrestling for some excitement! There are many gigs and shows throughout the year so keep an eye out for events on the stag weekend.
Man vs Food
If the lads are up for a challenge than this is the activity for them – an eating competition! There are three eating challenges to choose from: Wings of Fire, Nacho Tank and Sky Scraper Burger. Choose one and see who is up to the feast! Or if you are feeling like jokers then set up the challenge for the groom alone as a funny surprise whilst you guys choose normal portions from the Global Grub menu. And make sure to take photos and videos to record the event!
Murder Mystery Evening
Bring Cluedo to life by taking part in a murder mystery evening! Whilst enjoying dinner you will be solving a murder from a scenario of your choice. Can you work out who the murderer is, what the motive was and the weapon used? Watch as the story unfolds then get to work on solving the case. Mysteries from murdermysterycompany.co.uk include: Hollywood Homicide, Murder at Bracket Hall, Monsterville Murder and many more. This is a great option if you want something more unusual to do in the evening.
If the groom loves a poker night, then go one step further and have a casino night out. Before the gambling starts you can choose from a buffet or three course meal in the casino's restaurant. You then get a gaming tutorial, a £5 slots voucher and a £5 gaming chip to get you started. Then let the games commence.
